Mathematics 10 Real Numbers
Specific Curriculum Outcomes
AN02 Students will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of irrational numbers by representing, identifying, and simplifying irrational numbers and ordering irrational numbers.
AN03 Students will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of powers with integral and rational exponents. **Note that AN03.03 (Exponent Laws) is a review of Grade 9 N02.

AN02 Activities
- Square Roots Clothesline Activity from Andrew Stadel - Use a variety of visuals and benchmarks to locate perfect squares and approximate the value of non-perfect square numbers. A pdf file of cards already constructed for this activity is included.
|
- Multiplication Squares from MathsPad - Complete each multiplication square by filling in the missing number.
- Odd One Out from MathsPad - Pair up the irrational number to find which number has no partner.
- Irrational Number Spiders from Andy Lutwyche on TES - Spiders are a great format for math activities.
AN03 Activities
|
- Exploring Laws of Exponents from Learn Alberta - This interactive mathematics resource allow the user to explore the laws of exponents. The resource also includes print activities, solutions, and learning strategies.
- Exponent Puzzles from Amy Gruen (@sqrt_1) - Amy has a series of 3 sets of problems of increasing complexity for exponential equations. They are all set to print and put into dry erase sleeves for students to work with.

|
- Exponents Spoons Game from Tina Palmer - Use a special deck of cards with exponential expressions on them. Students use these cards to play a game of spoons. The first student to collect a set of 4 cards that have the same value grabs a spoon.
- Applying Properties of Exponents from Maths Assessment Project - This lesson unit is intended to help you assess how well students are able to Identify the appropriate property to use and apply it correctly.
